Vacancy Details
A total of 993 posts are available for the Constable (Operator) role under the Bihar Police Radio (Finance) and Technical Non-Gazetted Cadre Rules, 2021. Of these, 338 vacancies are reserved for women candidates (horizontal reservation of 35%). An additional horizontal reservation of 2% is applicable for dependents of freedom fighters. Eligibility
Educational Qualification
Candidates must have passed Intermediate (10+2) or an equivalent examination in the Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as subjects from a recognized board. General and Other Backward Class candidates must have secured a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. SC and ST candidates require a minimum of 45% aggregate marks. Candidates who have a higher qualification are also eligible, provided they meet the minimum requirement stated above.
Age Limit (as on 01 August 2026)
The minimum age for all candidates is 18 years. The standard upper age limit is 25 years for UR (General) male and female candidates. As per the government relaxation cited in Advt. No. 02/2026, an additional 5-year blanket relaxation applies, making the effective upper age limits as follows: UR male and female — 25 years (base); BC and EBC male — 27 years; BC and EBC female — 28 years; SC and ST male and female — 30 years. Age is calculated as of 01 August 2026.
Physical Standards
Male candidates from UR and BC categories must have a minimum height of 165 cm; EBC, SC, and ST male candidates require 160 cm. Chest measurement (unexpanded/expanded) for UR, BC, and EBC males is 81–86 cm; for SC and ST males it is 79–84 cm. Female candidates of all categories must have a minimum height of 155 cm and a minimum weight of 48 kg. Physical standards for transgender candidates are the same as those prescribed for female candidates. Nationality: Must be an Indian citizen and an original inhabitant of Bihar.
Salary and Pay
Selected candidates will be placed in Pay Level-3 with a pay band of ₹21,700 to ₹69,100 per month. Additional allowances as applicable under Bihar Government service rules will be paid. Other benefits are not separately disclosed in the official notification.
Selection Process
The selection is conducted in multiple stages. First, a written examination consisting of 100 objective-type (MCQ/OMR-based) questions for 100 marks is held over 2 hours. The question paper covers General Knowledge, Current Affairs, and Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at the Intermediate level. Candidates who clear the written exam are called for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which is qualifying in nature and carries no marks. PET events include: Running — males must complete 1.6 km in 6 minutes, females must complete 1 km in 6 minutes; High Jump — male standard is 3 feet 6 inches, female standard is 2 feet 6 inches; Shot Put (Gola Fek) — males use a 16-pound shot with a 15-feet minimum throw, females use a 12-pound shot with an 8-feet minimum. Candidates who qualify the PET proceed to Document Verification, followed by a Medical Examination. Final merit is determined based on the written examination score.
