Selection Process
The selection process for SSC Selection Post Phase 14 consists of the following stages:
Stage 1 – Computer Based Examination (CBE): Three separate CBEs are conducted — one each for Matriculation, Higher Secondary, and Graduation & above level posts. Each CBE has 100 objective-type multiple-choice questions, carrying 2 marks each (total 200 marks), to be completed in 60 minutes (80 minutes for candidates eligible for scribes). There is a sectional timer of 15 minutes for each of the four parts. Negative marking of 0.50 marks applies for each incorrect answer.
The four parts of the CBE are: General Intelligence (25 questions), General Awareness (25 questions), Quantitative Aptitude (25 questions), and English Language (25 questions).
Stage 2 – Scrutiny of Documents: Candidates shortlisted from the CBE are called for online document scrutiny in the ratio of 1:30 (for posts with up to 5 vacancies) or 1:15 (for posts with more than 5 vacancies).
Stage 3 – Skill Test / Physical Standards / Medical Examination (where applicable): For certain posts that require typing, data entry, shorthand, or physical standards, a skill test or medical examination is conducted. These tests are qualifying in nature and do not carry separate marks.
Stage 4 – Document Verification (DV): Final verification of original certificates by the User Department. There is no interview at any stage. Candidature remains provisional until DV is completed.
