Educational Qualification

For the Other than Science Subjects stream, candidates must have passed 10+2 / Intermediate with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English, or a two-year Vocational Course with Physics and Mathematics as non-vocational subjects with the same percentage criteria.
Only education boards recognised by Central, State, or UT authorities as on the date of the selection test are valid. Percentage is calculated as stated on the mark sheet — no rounding off is permitted.
Age Limit
Candidates must be born between 01 January 2006 and 01 July 2009 (both dates inclusive). As per the corrigendum to the original notification, the upper age limit at the time of enrolment has been extended to 22 years. However, the upper age limit as on the date of enrolment must not exceed 21 years for candidates who clear all stages of selection. Other Eligibility Conditions
Only unmarried Indian citizens — male and female — are eligible. Candidates must undertake not to marry during the four-year engagement period. Female candidates must additionally undertake not to become pregnant during the engagement. Permanent body tattoos are not permitted except on the inner forearm, back of the hand/palm, or tribal tattoos as per established custom. Salary / Pay and Benefits
Agniveervayu receive a monthly package that increases each year of the four-year engagement: ₹30,000 in Year 1, ₹33,000 in Year 2, ₹36,500 in Year 3, and ₹40,000 in Year 4. A portion of this package is contributed to the Seva Nidhi corpus monthly, matched equally by the Government.
Upon completion of the four-year tenure, candidates receive a one-time Seva Nidhi package of approximately ₹11.71 lakh (inclusive of interest), which is exempt from income tax. Additional benefits include risk and hardship allowances (where applicable), dress and travel allowances, ration, accommodation, medical facilities at service hospitals, canteen access, Leave Travel Concession, and 30 days of annual leave. A non-contributory life insurance cover of ₹48 lakh is provided for the full duration of service. There is no entitlement to gratuity, pension, or Provident Fund contribution. Up to 25% of Agniveervayu from each batch may be selected for regular cadre enrolment based on merit and organisational requirements.
Selection Process
Selection is conducted in multiple qualifying phases. A candidate must clear each phase to advance to the next.
Phase I – Online Test: Objective-type, bilingual (except English section). Science Subjects candidates take a 60-minute test covering Physics, Mathematics, and English. Other than Science candidates take a 45-minute test covering English and Reasoning & General Awareness (RAGA). Candidates applying for both streams take an 85-minute combined test. Marking: +1 for correct, –0.25 for wrong, 0 for unattempted.
Phase II – Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and Adaptability Tests: Conducted at Air Force Selection Centres (ASCs). Includes Physical Fitness Test, Adaptability Test I, and Adaptability Test II.
Phase III – Medical Examination: Conducted by an Air Force Medical Team. Includes baseline investigations such as blood tests, urine tests, X-ray, ECG, and USG (for female candidates). Candidates declared medically unfit may apply for an Appeal Medical Board on payment of ₹40.
