Educational Qualification
Candidates must satisfy one of the following qualification sets as per the official notification:
Option I: B.Sc. (Hons.) Nursing or B.Sc. Nursing from an Indian Nursing Council (INC) or State Nursing Council recognised institute or university, OR B.Sc. (Post-Certificate) / Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing from an INC/State Nursing Council recognised institute. The candidate must be registered as a Nurse and Midwife with the State or Indian Nursing Council.
Option II: Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) from an INC or State Nursing Council recognised institute, board, or council. The candidate must be registered as a Nurse and Midwife with the State or Indian Nursing Council and must have two years of post-qualification experience in a minimum 50-bedded hospital.
Note: Experience must be acquired after obtaining the essential qualification and nursing registration.
Age Limit

Salary and Pay
Selected Nursing Officers will be placed in Pay Level 7 of the 7th Central Pay Commission Pay Matrix, corresponding to the pre-revised Pay Band-2 of ₹9,300–₹34,800 with a Grade Pay of ₹4,600. In addition to basic pay, candidates are entitled to Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and other allowances admissible under central government rules. The exact in-hand salary will vary based on posting location and applicable allowances at the time of joining.
Selection Process
Recruitment under NORCET 10 follows a two-stage computer-based examination process:
Stage I — Preliminary Exam (11 April 2026): An online CBT consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) for 100 marks. This stage is qualifying in nature. One-third of a mark is deducted for each wrong answer. Candidates who meet the minimum qualifying percentile (category-wise, as per AIIMS rules) advance to Stage II.
Stage II — Mains Exam (30 April 2026): An online CBT of 160 MCQs to be completed in 180 minutes. One mark is awarded for each correct answer and one-third of a mark is deducted for each incorrect response. The final merit list is based exclusively on Stage II marks. Candidates then exercise choices for institute preferences, and final allocation is determined by merit and eligibility as per the rules of the respective AIIMS.
