Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Candidates must have passed 10+2 or an equivalent examination from any recognized Education Board. Punjabi as a compulsory or elective subject at the Matriculation (10th) level is mandatory for all applicants. Candidates who did not study Punjabi at Matric level but hold any other equivalent Punjabi language qualification recognized by the Punjab Government are also eligible. The Warder post is restricted to male candidates; the Matron post is restricted to female candidates.

Selected candidates for both Warder and Matron posts are placed in Pay Level-2 of the 7th Pay Commission pay matrix, with a basic pay range of ₹19,900 to ₹63,200 per month. In addition to basic pay, employees are entitled to Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and Travel Allowance (TA) as per Punjab Government norms. Selection Process

Selection for PSSSB Warder and Matron Recruitment 2026 is conducted in the following stages:

Stage 1 – Written Examination (Objective Type MCQ): The written test is computer-based with 120 questions carrying 120 marks. It is divided into two parts. Part-A is a Punjabi Language test at 10th standard level; it is qualifying in nature and requires a minimum of 50% marks. Part-B is the main paper on which the merit list is prepared. For Matron (Female): 100 metres run in 18.5 seconds (20 seconds for ex-servicewomen); shot put (5.443 kg) to a minimum of 4.0 metres (3.5 metres for ex-servicewomen); rope climbing to 12 feet (10 feet for ex-servicewomen).

Stage 4 – Document Verification and Medical Examination: Original documents are verified and a medical examination is conducted before final appointment.
