Vacancy Details

SBI has announced a total of 7,150 Apprentice training seats for the 2026-27 batch. These are distributed State/UT-wise across SC, ST, OBC, EWS, and Unreserved (UR) categories, with horizontal reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). The number of training seats is provisional and may vary according to the actual requirement of the bank. Candidates can apply for engagement in one State/UT only.

Reservation follows standard Government of India guidelines for SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), EWS, and UR categories. Horizontal reservation is provided for PwBD candidates under categories including Visual Impairment (VI), Hearing Impaired (HI), Locomotor Disability (LD), and Autism/Specific Learning Disability/Multiple Disabilities.

State-wise and district-wise vacancy breakdowns are available in the detailed official notification PDF on the SBI careers portal. Candidates can choose up to three preferred districts while filling out the application form; however, final allotment depends on SBI’s administrative requirements.

Eligibility

Educational Qualification

Candidates must hold a Graduation degree in any discipline from a recognised University or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Central Government as on 08 June 2026. No minimum percentage in graduation is specified in the notification. Final-year students are generally not eligible unless they hold proof of graduation by the cut-off date.

Age Limit and Relaxation

Candidates must have been born not later than 01 April 2006 and not earlier than 02 April 1998 (both days inclusive). The cut-off date for age calculation is 01 April 2026.

Age relaxation applicable as per Government of India rules:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
  • PwBD (UR): 10 years
  • PwBD (OBC): 13 years
  • PwBD (SC/ST): 15 years
  • Ex-Servicemen: as per Government of India rules

Candidates are advised to verify exact relaxation figures against the official notification PDF, as the above is drawn from multiple secondary sources.

Local Language Proficiency

Applicants must also be proficient in the specified local language of the chosen State/UT (reading, writing, speaking, and understanding). Candidates who have studied that local language at the 10th or 12th standard level may be exempted from the language test on producing the relevant mark sheet or certificate.

Nationality

Only Indian citizens are eligible to apply. Other categories (Nepali/Bhutanese nationals, eligible migrants) may apply only if specified in the official notification. Refer to the notification PDF for the complete nationality clause.

Stipend / Pay

Apprentices selected through this recruitment receive a fixed monthly stipend of ₹15,000 for the entire one-year engagement period. Apprentices are not eligible for standard employee allowances such as Dearness Allowance (DA) or House Rent Allowance (HRA).

Apprentices will not be entitled to benefits available to regular SBI employees, including medical facilities, pension, leave encashment, or other service allowances. Completing the apprenticeship training does not guarantee permanent employment in the bank, and candidates will have no automatic claim to a regular appointment after the training period.

Candidates who have successfully completed the apprenticeship training in SBI may receive a weightage/relaxation if they subsequently apply for the post of Junior Associate (SBI Clerk) recruitment in future.

Selection Process

Selection is conducted in two stages:

Stage 1 – Online Written Examination

The exam is conducted in online mode with objective-type (MCQ) questions. A total of 100 questions are asked for 100 marks. The total duration is 60 minutes, with separate sectional timing of 15 minutes each. Sections covered are Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English Language, and General/Financial Awareness. Negative marking of 0.25 marks applies for each wrong answer; no penalty for unanswered questions. Questions are bilingual (English and Hindi) except for the English Language section.

Test questions (except General English) are also set in 13 regional languages — Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu — in addition to English and Hindi, as applicable State-wise.

SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates receive 5% relaxation in minimum qualifying marks on aggregate. Merit lists are drawn State-wise and Category-wise in descending order; tie-breaking is by age in descending order.

Stage 2 – Local Language Test

The local language test is conducted after qualifying the online written examination. Candidates who fail to qualify this test will not be engaged as an apprentice. Candidates who produce 10th or 12th standard mark sheets evidencing study of the specified local language may be exempted from appearing in it.

Following both stages, candidates are subject to document verification, CIBIL check, Aadhaar verification, and medical fitness assessment before final engagement.
