Eligibility

Educational Qualification

Minimum qualifications vary by post category. Key requirements sourced from the official notification are as follows:

Manager / Junior Manager (Category 1 & 2): Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (B.Com) with minimum 55% marks plus a computer certificate at ‘O’ Level or equivalent; OR B.Tech/B.E. in Computer Science, IT, or ECE with 55% marks; OR BCA/MCA; OR BBA/MBA in Banking, Finance, or HR; OR full-time PGDM in Banking, Finance, or HR.
Assistant/Cashier – Banking Assistant/Clerical Staff (Category 3): Bachelor’s degree in any stream with minimum 55% marks and a mandatory CCC certificate in computer proficiency.
Assistant/Typist: As specified in the official notification for the applicable post category.

Age Limit and Relaxation

Candidates must be between 21 and 40 years as on 01 January 2026 (born between 01 January 1986 and 01 January 2005). The maximum age for Divyangjan (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities) of UP is 55 years. SC, ST, OBC candidates and state government employees of Uttar Pradesh are entitled to 5 years of relaxation (upper limit: 45 years). Ex-Servicemen receive relaxation equal to their military service period plus 3 years. Age relaxation benefits apply only to candidates domiciled in Uttar Pradesh.

Domicile and Category

For the General Recruitment (A-2/G.R./2026), applicants must be Indian citizens. For the Special Recruitment (A-1/S.R./2026), only candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) or Other Backward Classes (OBC) with a valid UP domicile are eligible. General category candidates are not eligible for the Special Recruitment.

Salary and Pay

Salary is governed by the 7th Central Pay Commission scales as applicable to the co-operative sector. Indicative pay ranges reported from the official notification are: Manager — approximately ₹34,000–₹88,000 per month; Junior Engineer — Level-6 pay scale (approximately ₹35,400–₹1,12,400); Assistant/Cashier — pay scales vary by district, ranging from approximately ₹25,620–₹64,670 in larger districts. In certain smaller district cooperative banks, the pay scale for clerical posts may differ significantly. Selected employees are also entitled to Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Travel Allowance (TA), Medical Benefits, and pension under the National Pension System (NPS).

Selection Process

The selection process is merit-based and conducted in stages through Computer Based Test (CBT) mode:

Preliminary Examination (if required): Conducted only when the number of applicants is high. It consists of 100 objective-type questions for 100 marks, with a time limit of 90 minutes. Negative marking of 1/4 mark applies for each wrong answer. Up to 15 times the number of vacancies are shortlisted from prelims for the main exam. Preliminary marks are not counted in the final merit list.
Main Examination: 120 objective-type questions for 200 marks, with a 120-minute duration. Negative marking of 1/4 mark per wrong answer applies. Subjects include Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, English/Hindi Language, General Awareness, and subject-specific content by post.
Interview (Category 1 & 2 posts only): Manager and Junior Manager post candidates who qualify the main exam are called for a Personality Test/Interview. Final merit is based on Main Exam + Interview scores combined.
Skill/Proficiency Test (Category 3 posts): Applicable for Typist and Stenographer posts. This is a qualifying stage; its marks are not added to the merit list.

1. Can General category candidates apply for UP Cooperative Bank Recruitment 2026?

General category candidates cannot apply for the Special Recruitment (Advt. A-1/S.R./2026), which is exclusively for SC and OBC candidates domiciled in Uttar Pradesh. General category candidates are eligible for the General Recruitment (Advt. A-2/G.R./2026), for which the application window is open from 25 April to 15 May 2026.

2. The Special Recruitment application closed on 15 April 2026. Is there another chance to apply?

Yes. The General Recruitment (A-2/G.R./2026) for 2,085 posts is currently open for applications until 15 May 2026 at upcisb.upsdc.gov.in. This notification covers a wider range of posts and is open to all eligible Indian citizens, not only reserved category candidates.

3. Is the Preliminary Examination mandatory for all applicants?

The Preliminary Examination is conducted only if the number of applicants exceeds a certain threshold. It is a qualifying/screening stage; its marks are not counted in the final merit list. Candidates shortlisted from prelims — up to 15 times the number of vacancies — proceed to the Main Examination.

4. What computer qualification is required, and is it mandatory?

A CCC (Course on Computer Concepts) certificate is mandatory for Assistant/Cashier posts. For Manager and Junior Manager posts, an ‘O’ Level certificate (or equivalent) is required unless the candidate holds a B.Tech/B.E./BCA/MCA degree, in which case the computer certificate requirement may be covered by the degree. 5. Will there be negative marking in the examination?

Yes. Both the Preliminary and Main Examinations carry a negative marking of 1/4 (25%) of the marks assigned to a question for each wrong answer. There is no penalty for unanswered questions.

6. Is OBC age relaxation available for candidates from outside Uttar Pradesh?

No. Age relaxation for OBC, SC, ST, EWS, Divyangjan, Ex-Servicemen, and other reserved categories is applicable only to candidates who are domiciles of Uttar Pradesh. Candidates belonging to these categories but domiciled in other states will be treated as General/Unreserved for the purpose of age limit.
